Web 2.0 can be visualized as a set of principles and practices that tie together a veritable solar system of sites that demonstrate some or all of those principles, at a varying distance from that core (O’Reilly, 2005). It can be defined as a set of economic, social, and technology trends that collectively form the basis for the next generation of the Internet—a more mature, distinctive medium characterized by user participation, openness, and network effects(O’ Reilly Radar, n.d.). Common web 2.0 technologies include RSS, Blogs, Wikis, Podcasts, Video, Social Bookmarks, Screencasts, Slidecasts, Synchronous Communications etc .The popularity of Web 2.0 technology can be gauged through the number of visitors to sites like Facebook and MySpace.
